Despite living below the poverty line, his family has allegedly not been issued a BPL (Below Poverty Line) card, depriving them of access to various government welfare benefits.<br><br>According to local sources, Gajendra Reang, a jhum cultivator and daily wage labourer, lives with his wife and three sons in Sadananda Para, located around 12 kilometres from Gandacherra town. The family&#8217;s livelihood depends entirely on seasonal cultivation and daily labour work.<br><br>Their situation worsened recently when a storm severely damaged their house. A portion of the structure collapsed, making it unsafe for the family to live in. With limited income and no savings, repairing the damaged home has become nearly impossible.<br><br>Family members claim that despite repeated applications, they have not received a BPL card. As a result, they are unable to access subsidized food grains and other social welfare schemes meant for economically vulnerable households. The rising costs of food, education, and healthcare have pushed the family deeper into financial distress.<br><br>Local residents have alleged irregularities in the identification of genuinely poor families for welfare benefits.
