Tripura, June 6:<\/strong> A tragic accident at the scenic Saika Waterfall in Kamalpur claimed the life of 19-year-old Ananta Singh, a promising student and NEET aspirant from the Itbhata area of Bishramganj. The incident has left his family, friends, and the local community in deep mourning.

According to family members, Ananta was preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) with dreams of becoming a doctor. On Saturday, he had travelled to Saika Waterfall along with seven friends from his locality for a day trip.

Friends accompanying him said that while exploring an area near the waterfall, Ananta reportedly slipped and fell into the water. He was quickly swept away by the strong current and disappeared beneath the surface. Despite immediate rescue attempts by his friends and later efforts with the help of local residents, he could not be saved.

News of the tragedy spread rapidly, casting a shadow of grief across Bishramganj. Ananta’s parents, Bina Singh and Amar Singh, were devastated upon learning of their son’s death. Family members said they have struggled to cope with the loss. His elder brother, Alok Singh, who is currently pursuing a B.Ed degree, is also finding it difficult to come to terms with the sudden tragedy.

Neighbours and well-wishers described Ananta as a polite, humble, and hardworking student with a strong passion for academics. His dream was to become a doctor and serve society, and many in the community had high hopes for his future.

Following the incident, residents have called for stronger safety measures at tourist destinations and accident-prone sites across the state. Many have also expressed their condolences on social media and extended support to the bereaved family.

What was meant to be a joyful outing ended in heartbreak, leaving behind an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew him.
