New Delhi, June 3:<\/strong> At least 21 people, including 18 foreign nationals, lost their lives after a massive fire broke out at the Flourish Stay guest house in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area on Wednesday. Several others sustained serious injuries, with some remaining in critical condition at hospitals across the national capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to officials, the victims included citizens of Liberia, Nigeria, Mozambique and Bangladesh. The fire spread rapidly through the multi-storey building, trapping guests inside and triggering scenes of panic and chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shocking videos circulating on social media showed desperate occupants attempting to escape the flames and thick smoke. Some were seen jumping from upper floors in a bid to save their lives as the blaze engulfed the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local residents were among the first to respond, helping rescue trapped guests before fire and emergency services reached the scene. Firefighters later launched a massive operation to contain the blaze and evacuate survivors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preliminary investigations have revealed serious violations at the establishment. Authorities allege that the guest house was operating 24 rooms despite having approval for only six. Officials also reported a lack of proper ventilation and inadequate fire safety measures, factors that may have contributed to the high death toll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The owner of the guest house, Lavkesh Bajaj, is reportedly absconding. Police have launched a search operation and initiated legal proceedings in connection with the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals, including AIIMS Trauma Centre and Safdarjung Hospital. Medical authorities said some patients remain on ventilator support and are in critical condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tragedy has once again raised concerns over illegal constructions, overcrowded accommodations and poor enforcement of fire safety regulations in Delhi. Coming just weeks after the Saket building collapse, the incident has renewed calls for stricter inspections and accountability to prevent similar disasters in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
