Agartala, May 20, 2026:<\/strong> Tripura has taken a significant step towards building a strong Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) ecosystem with the successful organisation of a Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on the Draft Tripura AVGC-XR Policy at Polo Hotel, Agartala.

The consultation programme, organised by the Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Tripura, brought together senior government officials, industry leaders, startup founders, academic experts, and stakeholders from across the AVGC-XR sector to discuss the future of the Orange Economy in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the workshop, Tripura Finance, IT & Planning Minister Pranajit Singha Roy met delegates of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and members of the AVGC-XR ecosystem for detailed discussions on strengthening Tripura\u2019s creative and digital economy in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s vision of promoting the Orange Economy.

Sharing details on social media, the Minister stated that the discussions focused on opportunities in animation, VFX, gaming, comics, extended reality, digital content creation, startup growth, skill development, creative entrepreneurship, and employment generation for the youth of Tripura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He reaffirmed that the Government of Tripura, under the leadership of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, is committed to positioning the state as an emerging hub for innovation, creativity, and AVGC-XR opportunities in the Northeast region.

The workshop highlighted Tripura\u2019s growing potential in the creative economy sector. According to the draft policy note, the global AVGC-XR industry is one of the fastest-growing segments of the digital economy, with India projected to generate over 23 lakh jobs in the sector by 2032.

The draft policy also noted that Tripura\u2019s high literacy rate, expanding digital infrastructure, affordable electricity supply, and rich Indigenous cultural heritage provide a strong foundation for the growth of digital content creation, gaming, animation, and immersive media industries.

The programme was attended by Shri Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary, IT, Government of Tripura, and Shri Jeya Ragul Geshan B., IFS, Director, IT, Government of Tripura, who outlined the state\u2019s roadmap for promoting creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several nationally recognised experts also participated in the consultation, including Austin Davis, Head of Skill Development at NID and member of the National AVGC Task Force; Manvendra Shukul, Board Member of IICT; Prof. Saikat Sekhareswar Roy of SRFTI; Anurag Khurana, CEO of Newgen Gaming Pvt. Ltd.; Vishal Parekh, COO of CyberPowerPC; and Lt. Col. (Dr.) Soumya Prakash Otta, Director of STPI.

The consultation programme focused on building a sustainable ecosystem through infrastructure support, incubation centres, skill development, startup promotion, cultural storytelling, and innovation-driven entrepreneurship.

Officials stated that over the next 8 to 10 years, the AVGC-XR sector in Tripura has the potential to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for nearly 5,000 to 8,000 youths and support around 80 to 150 startups, MSMEs, and creative enterprises.

The initiative is being seen as a strategic effort to transform Tripura into a creator-driven digital economy hub in Northeast India while opening new opportunities for Indigenous youth, artists, storytellers, designers, and technology professionals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
