Agartala, May 15:<\/strong> The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has sanctioned \u20b9273.46 crore for the expansion and infrastructural development of Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) under the centrally sponsored scheme for enhancement of MBBS and Postgraduate (PG) seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expressing gratitude, Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda for approving the major healthcare and medical education initiative for the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the approval, AGMC will witness an increase of 100 MBBS seats from the 2026\u201327 academic session, taking the intake capacity from 150 to 250 seats, including 15 EWS seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, 83 Postgraduate seats will be added across 19 important and specialised departments, including General Medicine, Anaesthesia, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Community Medicine, and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this expansion, the total number of MBBS seats in Tripura will rise to 550, while the total PG seats will increase to 196.
