The eviction is part of a development initiative aimed at improving the Kata Khal basin, where many of these families have been living on government (khas) land for the past 25\u201330 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p2\">In response to the sudden notice, affected residents blocked the road near the bridge, demanding immediate rehabilitation or alternative arrangements before any eviction is carried out. Protesters stated that they would not lift the blockade unless a proper resettlement plan is ensured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cWe have been living here for decades. The administration must provide us with an alternative before asking us to leave,\u201d one of the residents said during the protest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p2\">Meanwhile, local corporator Hiralal Debnath rushed to the spot and assured the agitators that he would take up the matter with higher authorities.
