{"id":20597,"date":"2026-04-17T13:54:56","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T13:54:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/?p=20597"},"modified":"2026-04-17T13:55:56","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T13:55:56","slug":"ipft-general-secretary-swapan-debbarma-resigns-after-poor-ttaadc-poll-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/index.php\/2026\/04\/17\/ipft-general-secretary-swapan-debbarma-resigns-after-poor-ttaadc-poll-performance\/","title":{"rendered":"IPFT General Secretary Swapan Debbarma resigns after poor TTAADC Poll performance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Agartala, Apr 17.<\/strong> The <strong><em>Indigenous People\u2019s Front of Tripura<\/em><\/strong> (IPFT) general secretary <strong>Swapan Debbarma<\/strong> has resigned from his post, taking moral responsibility for the party\u2019s poor performance in the recently concluded TTAADC elections, where it secured only 17,664 votes despite fielding candidates in 24 seats in indigenous-dominated areas.<br><br>In his resignation statement, Debbarma acknowledged the disappointing outcome despite the party\u2019s expectations of winning four to five seats. \u201cThe results have been very unsatisfactory,\u201d he said, adding that while voter turnout was comparatively better than the 2023 Assembly elections, it did not translate into electoral success.<br><br>He, however, expressed gratitude to party supporters and voters who stood by the party\u2019s core demand for a separate \u2018Tipraland\u2019.<br><br>Debbarma also alleged technical issues during polling, claiming that the use of old EVM machines led to unexpected problems across polling booths in various constituencies.<br><br>Maintaining that \u201cthe people\u2019s mandate is final,\u201d he said he has submitted his resignation to the party president through the party office secretary, and the final decision now rests with the leadership.<br><br>The IPFT\u2019s performance in the TTAADC polls marks a significant setback for the party in tribal areas, where it has traditionally held influence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agartala, Apr 17.
