The team carried out a detailed assessment of the airport premises, including key infrastructure such as the power supply unit and the Air Traffic Control (ATC) building.

During the inspection, officials observed significant deterioration across multiple structures. Leaking roofs, broken windows, and vegetation growing over buildings indicated prolonged neglect, leading to rapid infrastructural damage.

Speaking to the media, officials said the primary objective of the visit was to examine the airport’s peripheral land and identify any encroachments. “We are inspecting the surrounding land to check for unauthorized occupation. As the state government is planning to operationalize the airport in the near future, we are also assessing land availability, verifying existing assets, and preparing estimates for fencing the open areas,” an official stated.

The team also acknowledged issues related to drinking water and electricity at the site and assured that necessary steps would be taken to address them at the earliest.

Notably, recent allegations of land encroachment within parts of the airport premises were found to be true during the inspection.
