Tripura, 03 April 2026:<\/strong> Tension and anger have gripped the Dol**hhara area of Kailashahar after a nine-year-old girl was allegedly lured into an abandoned house and sexually assaulted by a young man from a neighboring locality. The accused, identified as Zakir Hossain, was caught red-handed by local residents and handed over to the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to locals, the incident came to light after a woman from a neighboring house spotted the accused taking the child-aged around 10 or 11 into a vacant house near the colony. Local resident Sushmita Das, who was among the first to respond, told reporters that initially, residents were unsure about the situation. “We went and searched but couldn’t find them at first. She insisted they had gone inside, but we didn’t see anyone. Then, because the house was empty, we became suspicious and went in again. That’s when we found both of them in a compromising position,” Ms. Das said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She further alleged that the accused, Zakir Hossain, is a resident of Bhagawan Nagar’s Gopal Nagar area (Ward No. 3). Das also claimed that this was not Zakir’s first offense. “He has done this to other girls before, but we didn’t have proof, so we couldn’t take any legal action,” she stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survivor reportedly told locals that the accused gave her \u20b9600 after assaulting her, asking her not to reveal the incident to anyone. “The girl says he did wrong to her and then gave her money so she wouldn’t tell anyone,” Ms. Das added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The abandoned house where the assault took place is reportedly a private property belonging to a local resident known as Siraj Member. Locals noted that the doors had been left open, making the spot easily accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene, arrested Zakir Hossain, and rescued the child. She was taken for medical examination and legal formalities. However, questions have been raised about the police’s initial response, with allegations of reluctance to file a written complaint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local residents have demanded the harshest possible punishment for the accused and a neutral, time-bound investigation into the matter. “We want the harshest punishment for him. The law couldn’t take action before because we lacked evidence. This time, we demand justice,” Ms. Das said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
