{"id":19587,"date":"2026-03-20T13:59:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-20T13:59:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/?p=19587"},"modified":"2026-03-20T14:01:22","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T14:01:22","slug":"mountaineer-prananta-deb-announces-everest-2026-expedition-plans-oxygen-free-summit-attempt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/index.php\/2026\/03\/20\/mountaineer-prananta-deb-announces-everest-2026-expedition-plans-oxygen-free-summit-attempt\/","title":{"rendered":"Mountaineer Prananta Deb announces Everest 2026 Expedition, plans Oxygen-free summit attempt"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Agartala, Mar 20.<\/strong> Agartala-based mountaineer Prananta Deb on Friday announced his Mount Everest Expedition 2026 at a press meet held at the <strong>Agartala Press Club<\/strong>, outlining an ambitious plan that includes an oxygen-free summit attempt.<br><br>The expedition is scheduled from April 1 to May 31, 2026, during which Deb will undertake acclimatization and attempt the final summit push on Mount Everest.<br><br>A key highlight of the expedition is his plan to climb without supplemental oxygen, considered one of the most challenging and high-risk feats in high-altitude mountaineering, demanding exceptional physical endurance and mental strength.<br><br>Deb also unveiled his long-term mission, \u201cThe Final Altitude,\u201d which aims to summit all 14 peaks above 8,000 metres within one year. If achieved, it would be a first-of-its-kind accomplishment from India.<br><br>He, however, pointed out significant geopolitical challenges, noting that five of these peaks are located in <strong><em>Pakistan-occupied Kashmir<\/em><\/strong> (POK), making the mission subject to permissions from Pakistani authorities.<br><br>Addressing the press, Deb described the expedition as his lifelong dream and said he aims to represent Tripura and the Northeast at the international level through this endeavour.<br><br>He also sought financial and logistical support from organisations and institutions to carry forward the expedition.<br><br>Among those present at the press meet were Khukan Paul, president of the <strong><em>Tripura Sport Climbing Association<\/em><\/strong>, along with <em>general secretary Bimal Sutradhar, cashier Snehangshu Dhar and member Ashit Debnath. Abhijit Chakraborty<\/em>, <strong>founder of Agartala Empathy Foundation<\/strong>, and <strong><em>co-founder Debabrata Chowdhury<\/em><\/strong> were also present.<br><br>Media persons and attendees welcomed the initiative, describing it as a proud moment for Tripura.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agartala, Mar 20.
