The driver sped away, prompting a chase along <strong><em>National Highway 208.<\/em><\/strong><br><br>The vehicle was later found abandoned in a roadside drain near <strong><em>Chebri Veterinary Hospital<\/em><\/strong>, with the occupants fleeing the spot. During a search, police recovered 96.5 kg of dry ganja packed in 47 packets, concealed in a specially built hidden chamber inside the vehicle.<br><br>The seized vehicle, bearing registration number TR01AP1907, is suspected to have a fake number plate.<br><br>In a related incident a day earlier, a luxury vehicle caught fire in the Behalabari area under Khowai subdivision. Firefighters controlled the blaze, and subsequent inspection revealed a large quantity of ganja hidden in a secret compartment.<br><br>Police have registered a case under the NDPS Act and launched an investigation to identify those involved.
