Dharmanagar, Feb 25: North Tripura district has been honoured with the \u201cBest Beat System District 2025\u201d award during the Tripura Police Week celebration held at the Manoranjan Debbarma Memorial Stadium in Agartala.
The award and certificate were presented by Anurag Dhankar, Director General of Police (DGP), to North Tripura Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai in recognition of the district\u2019s effective implementation of the beat policing system.
The beat system is an area-based patrolling and surveillance mechanism under which police station jurisdictions are divided into smaller units known as \u201cbeats.\u201d Each beat is assigned to a designated officer responsible for maintaining regular contact with residents, gathering inputs proactively, and preventing crime through close monitoring at the grassroots level.
Officials said the consistent and structured execution of this system helped North Tripura maintain law and order efficiently throughout 2025, earning it the top honour in the category.
