Tripura, 06 Feb 2026:<\/strong> Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police from Sonamura Police Station <\/strong>carried out a major anti-narcotics operation in the border-adjacent Durgapur area under Sonamura police station limits and seized a large consignment of suspected Yaba tablets along with illegal arms, ammunition, and cash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The raid was conducted at the residence of one Ali Hossain (also known as Ali Hasan) in Durgapur Ward No. 5. During the search, police recovered a 7.65 mm pistol marked \u201cMade in India\u201d, one live cartridge, suspected Yaba tablets weighing 1.105 kilograms, Indian currency amounting to \u20b952,760, and Bangladeshi currency worth BDT 5,910. Two Android mobile phones and three passports were also seized from the premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ali Hossain and his wife Mariam Bibi were arrested on the spot. Both have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and the Arms Act, and cases have been registered at Sonamura Police Station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Confirming the operation, Sonamura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tapas Das said that the raid was conducted jointly by Sonamura police and Border Security Force<\/strong>, particularly personnel from the 81 Battalion BSF. He stated that the joint team carried out a thorough search of the house, leading to the recovery of narcotics, arms, ammunition, cash, mobile phones, and passports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OC further informed that both accused are currently being interrogated and that several additional names linked to the illegal network have surfaced during questioning. These leads are being verified in coordination with sister agencies and BSF intelligence units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are verifying all the information received during interrogation. Anyone found involved in these illegal activities will be brought under the ambit of law,\u201d the OC said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
