Tripura, 06 Feb 2026: <\/strong>In a major crackdown on illegal drug cultivation, police carried out a large-scale operation under the jurisdiction of Bodhjungnagar Police Station, covering Raj Chantaibari, Kichong and Ramchandranagar, along with surrounding areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the operation, around 15,000 fully grown cannabis (ganja) plants were destroyed. The illegal cultivation was spread across 8\u201310 different government (khas) plots, covering nearly 4 acres of land. The estimated market value of the destroyed ganja is approximately \u20b97\u20139 lakh, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to the media, the SDPO stated that the operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs about large-scale ganja cultivation in the Kichong and Raj Chantaibari areas. Acting on instructions from higher authorities, a joint force was deployed for the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team included around 50 personnel from TSR 10th and 2nd Battalions, four sections of CRPF 140G Company, along with officers and staff from NCC Police Station, including women constables. After reaching the identified locations, the force marked the illegal plots and began destroying the crops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ganja plants were cut down and set on fire on the spot to ensure complete destruction. The SDPO confirmed that the operation is still ongoing and will continue in the coming days to eliminate illegal cultivation from the area entirely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
