Declaring that Tipra Motha has no “big brother” in politics, party founder Bubagra Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma on Saturday said the party believes in friendship and coexistence, not dominance, while launching a sharp attack on the state government over claims regarding outcomes of ADC elections, land rights, and educational inequality.

Addressing a large gathering at Demdum High School Ground under Damcherra-Kachucherra Assembly Constituency of TTAADC under Unakoti District, Pradyot said “In politics, we have friends, not brothers. Coexistence is for giving people their rights,” he said.

Calling for Tiprasa unity beyond party lines, Pradyot urged youths to prioritise community interests over political divisions. “We are less in number. Jati must come before the party. If Tiprasa remains divided, others will rule,” he warned.

Taking a direct swipe at the Chief Minister’s claim of winning all 28 Assembly seats, Pradyot challenged the government to announce the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election dates immediately. “If the confidence is real, announce the polls tomorrow. We will see who wins,” he said, also pointing out that village committee elections have not been held for the last ten years.
He accused certain leaders who switched political parties of working against Tiprasa interests and alleged deliberate attempts to divide communities for political gain. Appealing for peace and communal harmony, he stressed respect for all religions.

Raising concerns over development, Pradyot questioned whether holding posts as MLAs or ministers had improved the condition of Tiprasa people. He flagged land alienation as a major issue, claiming that nearly 99 per cent of Tiprasa families lack land pattas.
Criticising the government’s development narrative, such as “Har Ghar Jal Mission” he alleged that villages have water ‘Nal’ taps without water, roads exist mainly on highways but not in Tiprasa Kami (Village), Village become without power for five days, whereas not similar things happen in general areas, and funds meant for ADC areas remain stuck in Agartala, pointing that ADC areas, despite being geographically larger, receive less funding than the state capital.

Reiterating Tipra Motha’s stand on Kokborok, Pradyot said only Tiprasa have the right to decide the script of their language and renewed the demand for Roman script. He also demanded Kokborok announcements at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, stating that merely naming infrastructure does not ensure inclusive development.

Highlighting educational disparity, he said ministers’ children study in English-medium schools while poor Tiprasa students are forced into Bengali-medium education. He termed this system unjust and discriminatory.
Without naming anyone, Pradyot criticised remarks referring to Reangs as refugees, calling them “sons of the soil,” and reminded that Tripura was historically ruled by Tiprasa. He asserted that if Tiprasa remain united till 2028, the state would witness a Tiprasa Chief Minister.

During the programme, 1,044 voters formally joined the Tipra Motha Party, strengthening its grassroots base. The event also marked the inauguration of the newly constructed office of Rajkandi Sub-Zonal office under the TTAADC, where royal scion stressed corruption-free governance and people-centric development citing if they love Bubagra they should serve the same love to the people.

Concluding his address, Pradyot declared that Tipra Motha is prepared for any political battle and will continue its struggle until Tiprasa self-rule and rights are firmly established in Tripura.

The programme was attended by Minister Brishaketu Debbarma, MLA Ranjit Debbarma, MLA Paul Dangshu MDC Dhirendra Debbarma, Spokesperson Rajeshwar Debbarma, TWF President Manihar Debbarma, YTF leader James Debbarma, TWF leaders and TCF several others.

Agartala: Jan 11.
