{"id":17429,"date":"2026-01-11T10:08:28","date_gmt":"2026-01-11T10:08:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/?p=17429"},"modified":"2026-01-12T04:11:38","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T04:11:38","slug":"congress-stages-four-hour-sit-in-at-dharmanagar-demanding-full-restoration-of-mgnrega-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/index.php\/2026\/01\/11\/congress-stages-four-hour-sit-in-at-dharmanagar-demanding-full-restoration-of-mgnrega-act\/","title":{"rendered":"Congress stages four-hour sit-in at Dharmanagar demanding full restoration of MGNREGA Act"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dharmanagar, Jan 11: The Dharmanagar District <strong>Congress <\/strong>on Sunday held a four-hour sit-in protest demanding full restoration of the MGNREGA Act, warning of intensified statewide agitation if the government fails to act.<br><br>The protest was organised in front of the Dharmanagar District Congress office under the party\u2019s ongoing \u201cMGNREGA Bachao Sangram\u201d campaign, following directives from the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee.<br><br>Addressing the media, North District Congress president Digbijoy Chakraborty said MGNREGA is a constitutional right of poor and working-class citizens, alleging that the ruling party has rendered the Act ineffective. \u201cThe right to work cannot be curtailed,\u201d he asserted.<br><br>Chakraborty demanded a minimum daily wage of \u20b9400 under MGNREGA and accountability in wage payments, claiming workers are being denied their rightful earnings under the current system. He warned that failure to immediately restore MGNREGA would force Congress to launch a larger movement across the state.<br><br>He announced that a statewide mass agitation will be held from January 8 to February 25 to press for the demands.<br><br>Tripura Pradesh Congress secretary Chayan Bhattacharjee, Mahila Congress leader Mansi Malakar, and several district and state-level Congress leaders and workers were present at the sit-in.<br><br>Congress leaders maintained that protecting MGNREGA is essential for safeguarding rural livelihoods and sustaining the rural economy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dharmanagar, Jan 11: The Dharmanagar District Congress on Sunday held a four-hour sit-in protest demanding full restoration of the MGNREGA Act, warning of intensified statewide agitation if the government fails to act.
