Agartala: Dec 26. A 57-year-old newspaper hawker lost his life in a tragic road accident at Kalyanpur on Thursday morning while returning home after collecting ration rice. The deceased has been identified as Ajay Acharjee, a well-known newspaper vendor in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to sources, the incident occurred near Ananda Marg School on the Teliamura road when Ajay Acharjee was hit and run over by a 12-wheeler truck. He was returning from the ration shop located at the Kalyanpur Block auditorium at the time of the mishap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and immediately shifted him to Kalyanpur Community Health Centre. However, the attending doctors declared him brought dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ajay Acharjee had been working as a newspaper hawker for nearly two decades in Kalyanpur market and nearby areas. Earlier in his life, he was also associated with private tutoring and ran a small bookshop. Despite these roles, he continued working as a newspaper vendor till his last day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is survived by his wife, one son, and several relatives. Following the incident, a pall of gloom descended over the entire area.
