Agartala, Dec 20:<\/strong> The College of Fisheries, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Lembucherra, Tripura, organised an awareness programme on \u201cRearing of Genetically Improved Fish Species in Aquaculture\u201d under the NEH scheme, in collaboration with ICAR\u2013Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. S. C. Mandal, Professor. This was followed by a brief introduction to the training programme by the Organising Secretary, Dr. Himanshu Priyadarshi, Associate Professor, College of Fisheries. Technical sessions were addressed by Dr. Kiran Rasal, Senior Scientist, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai, and Dr. A. D. Upadhyay, Professor, College of Fisheries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. A. B. Patel, Dean, College of Fisheries (CAU-I), Lembucherra, highlighted the importance of genetically improved fish species and their growing relevance in modern aquaculture for enhancing productivity and sustainability. Faculty members Dr. Chandan Halder and Dr. A. S. Barman also delivered lectures on scientific fish farming practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Around 80 fish farmers from different parts of Tripura actively participated in the programme and shared their experiences in fish culture. Improved Major Carp (IMC) seeds were distributed among the farmers to promote the adoption of improved aquaculture techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme witnessed participation from farmers, faculty members, scholars, and staff, reflecting a collective commitment towards strengthening India\u2019s Blue Revolution and promoting sustainable aquaculture practices.
