As officers initiated a search, they uncovered the involvement of an inter-state drug trafficking network. The police detained the vehicle for thorough inspection, during which they discovered 24 packets of dry ganja hidden inside the car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">According to police, the contraband\u2014packed in various-sized packets\u2014was concealed expertly beneath passenger bags, inside secret chambers under the dashboard, and beneath the seats. Some packets were also tied to the women\u2019s bodies. In total, 20 kilograms of dry ganja were recovered, with an estimated black-market value of around \u20b96 lakh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">The arrested women, all residents of Bihar, have been identified as Mongli Devi (28), Kavita Devi (35), Anita Devi (38), and Sutur Kumari (30). The driver, Sandeep Malakar (30), hailing from the Dharmanagar\u2013Haflong area of North Tripura, was also taken into custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Churaibari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Debabrata Biswas stated that although the women appeared to be ordinary passengers at first, inconsistencies in their behaviour and the vehicle\u2019s movement aroused suspicion. This led the police to conduct a deeper search, eventually uncovering the hidden narcotics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">Police sources added that the arrested individuals had procured the ganja from the Ambassa region and were planning to transport it to Bihar. Preliminary investigation suggests that this trafficking route has been active for a long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\">A case has already been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the accused will be produced before the Dharmanagar District &amp; Sessions Court.
