This remark was made by Tipra Motha Party (TMP) founder Bubagra Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma while addressing the media at a joining programme held at Manaipathar VC Ground under the 22-Kathalia Mirza-Rajapur (ST) TTAADC Constituency.
At the event, the TMP founder welcomed 1,975 voters into the party.
Pradyot said the Tiprasa Accord does not restrict the party from raising issues concerning indigenous communities. He reiterated that he will continue opposing the CAA until the Centre strengthens the TTAADC, calling such empowerment a fundamental political right for Tripura\u2019s indigenous population.
Pointing to the large turnout, Bubagra Pradyot remarked, \u201cThis response is from just one assembly constituency,\u201d claiming it reflects consolidated support for the party.
Taking a sharp swipe at ally BJP, he said several local-level leaders \u201cmake noise only to chase tickets and money,\u201d despite knowing they cannot win. \u201cThose in the BJP who understand politics know exactly what Motha is on the ground,\u201d he added.
He alleged that certain individuals using financial and administrative power wanted to keep Tiprasas \u201cpoor and downtrodden,\u201d but warned that the community\u2019s united vote would give its response soon. \u201cWe speak for the people, not against any single party,\u201d he said.
Pradyot further claimed that the BJP would not have formed the government without Motha contesting in 42 seats. \u201cIf we had restricted ourselves to 20 seats, the BJP probably wouldn\u2019t have come to power,\u201d he asserted, adding that the party will review whether it should continue limiting itself to 25-30 seats or prevent \u201cbackdoor entry\u201d for others.
He also targeted the opposition, saying, \u201cThe Congress is nowhere on the ground, the Communists are in their own shell, so the BJP is trying to create noise through local units.\u201d He maintained that Tiprasas would not vote for any party that fails to work for indigenous people.
