The North East Students\u2019 Organisation (NESO) today announced it will observe state-wide Black Day observations tomorrow, marking the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019, a law the body continues to call &#8216;draconian&#8217; and imposed despite massive opposition.<br><br>NESO, which includes the Khasi Students\u2019 Union (KSU), All Assam Students\u2019 Union (AASU), Naga Students\u2019 Federation (NSF), Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Twipra Students\u2019 Federation (TSF), All Manipur Students\u2019 Union (AMSU), Garo Students\u2019 Union (GSU) and All Arunachal Pradesh Students\u2019 Union (AAPSU), said that black flags and black banners will be displayed in all important locations across the seven Northeastern states.<br><br>The organisation reminded the public that on 11 December 2019, the Government of India pushed ahead with the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 in the Rajya Sabha, ignoring the \u201crelentless opposition\u201d of the indigenous peoples of the Northeast.<br><br>NESO said the Black Day observance is meant not only to signal continued resistance to the Act but also to remind present and future generations of what it calls \u201cyet another political injustice\u201d committed against the indigenous communities of the region.<br><br>The body has appealed to all people of the Northeast to support the observation and continue the struggle for what it described as a \u201cjust cause and a God-given right.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The statement was issued by NESO Chairman Samuel B.
