Tripura, 08 Dec 2025:<\/strong> Kadamtala Police have arrested a notorious drug trafficker and seized heroin worth several lakhs from South Kadamtala area on Sunday late night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to police sources, during routine night patrolling, officers noticed a suspicious youth in the South Kadamtala locality. When police attempted to stop him, he tried to flee. He was immediately detained by the patrolling team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suspecting possession of illegal substances, the team informed Kadamtala Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jayanta Debnath. Under his leadership, Dharmanagar SDPO Jayanta Karmakar, DCM officials and a forensic team reached the spot. During the search, police recovered 38 grams of heroin hidden inside a soap box, packed in a plastic pouch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The arrested accused has been identified as Ambar Ali alias Pir (25), son of Ballu Miah, a resident of Ward No. 1 under South Kadamtala Gram Panchayat. OC Jayanta Debnath confirmed that a case has been registered under the NDPS Act and an investigation has begun. On Monday, the accused was produced before the Dharmanagar Court with a prayer for police remand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police further revealed that the seized heroin has a black-market value of several lakhs. They also stated that Ambar Ali has a long history of involvement in drug trafficking, theft and robbery. Multiple cases against him are pending both in Tripura and in neighbouring Assam.
