The development of the tourism sector in these regions requires strengthening air connectivity across major religious and tourist destinations. This will significantly increase the flow of domestic and international tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">With this objective, a high-level virtual meeting of the North East Tourism Coordination Task Force was held today under the initiative of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER). Tripura\u2019s Chief Minister, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, joined the meeting as a special invitee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">The meeting was chaired by Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for DoNER. Also present were Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Sikkim Tourism Minister T.T. Bhutia, Arunachal Pradesh Tourism Minister P. B. Sona, and senior officials from various state governments. From Tripura, the meeting was attended by Planning Department Secretary L.T. Darlong, Tourism Department Secretary Idika Chomai, and other officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">During the discussion, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that the Northeastern states currently have many opportunities in the healthcare sector. People from neighbouring regions could access improved medical facilities available in these states. Thus, medical tourism holds immense potential and must be prioritised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">He also emphasised the need to strengthen North Eastern tourism through \u2018North East Tourism Train\u2019 and \u2018North East Tourism Air\u2019 initiatives to boost connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">The Chief Minister further stated that various cultural festivals such as the Hornbill Festival and Unity Festival must be organised more widely across the Northeastern states to promote the region\u2019s tourism potential.
