Agartala, Nov 19: Tripura\u2019s success in organic farming drew significant global attention as Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath highlighted the state\u2019s achievements at an international conference in Dubai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister attended the Middle East Natural & Organic Products Expo (MENOPE) 2025 held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from November 17\u201319. Tripura\u2019s participation created strong interest among importers from the GCC region, Europe, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the expo, Tripura showcased its GI\u2013tagged Queen Pineapple, jackfruit, Kalikhasa and Harinarayan aromatic rice, Bird\u2019s Eye chilli, Gandharaj lemon, white sesame and foxtail millet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was observed that hlobal buyers praised their quality, flavour and export potential. Many expressed willingness to establish long-term trade partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his address, the minister said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Tripura has emerged as one of India\u2019s leading organic farming states. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToday, 26,400 hectares are under certified organic cultivation and over 26,800 farmers have shifted from conventional to sustainable practices,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that 53 Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) have been formed across the state to handle organisation, processing, branding and direct marketing. He highlighted the natural sweetness (16\u201320 Brix) of Tripura\u2019s Queen Pineapple and the suitability of Kew pineapples for processing industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister also mentioned Tripura\u2019s Gandharaj lemon, aromatic Kalikhasa rice, local sticky brown rice and the hanger variety of black rice, noting the rising global demand for black rice because of its antioxidants and low glycaemic index. Organic ginger, turmeric, sesame, foxtail millet and Bird\u2019s Eye chilli were also showcased as high-potential export items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said India\u2019s organic food market is growing at 15\u201320% annually and is poised to become a major global player due to biodiversity, traditional knowledge and government support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tripura\u2019s agar wood, agar oil, agar perfume and bamboo products were also presented to international visitors. The minister invited global investors and importers to explore opportunities in Tripura\u2019s rapidly expanding organic sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also urged them to participate in the Organic Buyer\u2013Seller Meet in January 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tripura Organic Mission\u2019s Mission Director Rajib Deb Barma accompanied the minister during the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
