Tripura, 15 Nov 2025: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tripura Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha on Saturday inaugurated the state-level celebration of Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas and the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda at the Khumpui Academy Ground in Khumulwng. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the holistic development of tribal communities is essential for the overall progress of both the state and the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stated that the Government of Tripura has been working continuously for tribal welfare by implementing multiple development schemes inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s vision. The Chief Minister reiterated the Prime Minister\u2019s belief that \u201cIndia cannot develop without the development of tribal communities,\u201d adding that Tripura too cannot move forward without ensuring the upliftment of its tribal population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Saha said that the observation of Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas was declared by the Prime Minister to honour Bhagwan Birsa Munda\u2019s contributions to the freedom struggle and his unwavering fight for tribal rights. He called for a renewed commitment to ensure the proper implementation of all tribal development schemes and to accelerate ongoing welfare initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the programme, the live broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s address was shown. Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma delivered the welcome speech and highlighted various steps taken by the state government for the welfare of tribal communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event saw the presence of Industries & Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma, MPs Rajib Bhattacharjee and Kriti Devi Debbarma, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Tribal Welfare Secretary K. Shashikumar and other dignitaries. A total of 40 prominent personalities from tribal communities were felicitated, while 11 individuals were awarded for excellence in sports, art, culture, music and social work. Tribal artists also performed the traditional Mamita dance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special Announcements by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Expansion of Tribal Hostels<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2,700 new seats to be added across tribal hostels. Total beneficiaries will rise from 34,000 to 36,700.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Increase in Residential Scholarship<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hostel scholarship enhanced to \u20b9100 per student per day. To be effective from 1st December, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Additional Budget Allocation<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u20b98.81 crore for FY 2025\u201326 \u20b923.65 crore for FY 2026\u201327<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. New Girls\u2019 Hostel in Abhaynagar<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Construction of a 100-bed hostel for tribal college girls. Allocation: \u20b95.74 crore<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Support for NGO-run Hostels<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Provision of sports equipment to NGO-run tribal hostels. Allocation: \u20b990 lakh<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Smart Class Facilities<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the initial 100 hostels, 70 more tribal hostels will receive smart classroom facilities. Allocation: \u20b92.80 crore<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Solar Water Solutions<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the Tribal Development Scheme:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solar water purifiers and composite solar units to be installed in 50 tribal hostels. Allocation: \u20b919 crore<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Electric Autos for Tribal Youth<\/p>\n\n\n\n

500 electric autos to be provided to aspiring tribal entrepreneurs. Allocation: \u20b920 crore<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. Support for Tribal Women Weavers<\/p>\n\n\n\n
