Agartala: Nov 15. State Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Friday said that Tripura, despite being a small state in both population and urban spread, has achieved remarkable progress in providing housing to its citizens. Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s vision that \u201cno individual or family in India should be left without a roof,\u201d he said the state has pushed the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) mission with full force.
Making a bold comparison, the minister remarked, \u201cI will leave the whole country aside, but here in Tripura alone, more than five lakh people have received houses under PM Awas Yojana.\u201d He added that these beneficiaries are not just receiving homes but also essential facilities such as toilets, electricity and drinking water.
He also praised the Prime Minister\u2019s flagship initiatives, including Har Ghar Jal and the Swachh Bharat mission, calling them transformative steps that have improved basic services across Tripura.
The minister was speaking at a ceremony organised by the Udaipur Municipal Council at Rajarshi Kala Kshetra, where first-phase work sanction letters under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana\u2013Urban (PMAY-U) were distributed. He inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
According to officials, 2,519 beneficiaries within the Udaipur Municipal Council area have already received support under PMAY-U. The minister said the government\u2019s priority now is to ensure that every remaining family without a home, toilet, electricity or reliable water supply is brought under the scheme in the coming phase.
The event was attended by Municipal Council Chairman Shital Majumder, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Tridib Sarkar, and social worker Sabita Nag.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
