{"id":15533,"date":"2025-11-11T16:49:52","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T16:49:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/?p=15533"},"modified":"2025-11-11T16:49:52","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T16:49:52","slug":"tripura-cm-manik-saha-highlights-governments-commitment-to-tribal-development-at-sabroom-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/index.php\/2025\/11\/11\/tripura-cm-manik-saha-highlights-governments-commitment-to-tribal-development-at-sabroom-event\/","title":{"rendered":"Tripura CM Manik Saha Highlights Government\u2019s Commitment to Tribal Development at Sabroom Event"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Sabroom, Nov 11, 2025:<\/strong> Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today asserted that the previous governments had merely shed \u201ccrocodile tears\u201d for the tribal communities, while the present state government, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s vision of inclusive development, is working with renewed vigor to uplift the tribal population through various welfare initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">Speaking at the inauguration of a yarn distribution programme for tribal women weavers held at the Basundhara Ban Chetana Kendra in Manu Bazar, Sabroom subdivision, the Chief Minister said the government is tirelessly working for the advancement of tribal education, culture, and language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">Dr. Saha highlighted several major tribal welfare projects, including the Dharti Aba Tribal Development Project, and stated that each of the 19 recognized tribal communities in Tripura would benefit from targeted development schemes. He informed that government officials have been appointed at district and subdivision levels to ensure proper implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">He further mentioned that 40% of the state budget is earmarked for tribal development, and 21 Eklavya Model Residential Schools are being constructed for tribal students, alongside new hostels. Tribal women engaged in handloom weaving are being provided free yarn, with each receiving 1.2 kg of yarn. Yarn distribution has already been completed in five districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">Dr. Saha also pointed out that the traditional Risha of Tripura\u2019s tribes has received international recognition through geo-tagging, and is now proudly used for welcoming guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">He noted that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had created a separate ministry for tribal affairs, while Prime Minister Modi has established a dedicated ministry for the development of the Northeast, ensuring focused progress for the region\u2019s tribal communities. The Chief Minister emphasized that the government is implementing all development programmes with transparency and integrity, guided by the motto \u201cSabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">Dr. Saha also stressed the importance of building a drug-free society and urged everyone to actively participate in awareness campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, addressing the gathering as the guest of honour, said the present government has restored dignity and respect to the tribal communities. He lauded Chief Minister Dr. Saha\u2019s tireless efforts in improving housing, connectivity, education, and hostel infrastructure. \u201cDevelopment activities are being carried out under the Chief Minister\u2019s leadership with the guidance of officials and tribal community leaders to achieve the goal of \u2018Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura,\u2019\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">Among others who spoke at the event were South Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Deepak Dutta, and Director of Handloom, Handicrafts &amp; Sericulture Department Ajit Shukla Das, who delivered the welcome address. The programme was chaired by MDC Kongjong Mog, and attended by MLA Mailaibu Mog and District Magistrate of South Tripura Mohammad Sajjad P.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">On this occasion, the Chief Minister and the Tribal Welfare Minister distributed yarn to 20 tribal women.
