Khowai, November 4: <\/strong>Agriculture and Farmers\u2019 Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath today urged the farmers of Tripura to enhance agricultural productivity through the use of modern farming equipment and scientific cultivation methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Tulashikhar Primary Rural Market at Tulashikhar Bazar. The two-storied market will be constructed at an estimated cost of \u20b95.72 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the gathering, Minister Nath emphasized that the nation\u2019s food security depends on its farmers. He highlighted the importance of adopting modern machinery and scientific practices to increase crop yields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister informed that there are currently 554 markets across Tripura, including 84 wholesale markets, 21 agricultural produce markets, and 470 rural primary markets. In Khowai district alone, 14 new market projects are underway with a total investment of \u20b930.82 crore, and additional projects worth around \u20b917 crore are planned for implementation soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nath added that the state government is giving equal priority to improving education, healthcare, communication, drinking water, agriculture, electricity, and housing infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the event, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma said that more funds will be allocated in the coming days for the development of markets under the Tulashikhar Block. He also mentioned that steps will be taken to strengthen irrigation facilities to support local farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among other dignitaries present were TTAADC Khowai Zonal Chairman Bishu Debbarma, TTAADC Chief Forest Officer Jiban Debbarma, and others.
