{"id":14886,"date":"2025-10-27T11:14:53","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T11:14:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/?p=14886"},"modified":"2025-10-27T11:14:53","modified_gmt":"2025-10-27T11:14:53","slug":"tripura-journalists-union-slams-false-and-motivated-case-against-editor-pranab-sarkar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/index.php\/2025\/10\/27\/tripura-journalists-union-slams-false-and-motivated-case-against-editor-pranab-sarkar\/","title":{"rendered":"Tripura Journalists\u2019 Union Slams \u2018False and Motivated\u2019 Case Against Editor Pranab Sarkar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Agartala,October 27, 2025:<\/strong> The Tripura Journalists\u2019 Union (TJU) has voiced strong protest against the police case filed by Tipra Motha MLA and surrendered militant leader Ranjit Debbarma against senior journalist Pranab Sarkar, who serves as the All India Secretary and Acting President of the Union\u2019s state committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">In a press statement, the TJU said it is \u201cdeeply concerned\u201d over the \u201cfalse, baseless and politically motivated\u201d complaint. The Union alleged that the voter ID card mentioned in the case had already gone viral on social media and was broadcast by several news channels long before the FIR was registered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cYet, only Pranab Sarkar has been targeted clearly with the intent to defame him and mislead the public,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">Highlighting Mr. Sarkar\u2019s long-standing contribution to inclusive journalism in Tripura, the TJU recalled his role in setting up the Khumlung Press Club, the first dedicated press body for tribal journalists in the state, during his tenure as Secretary of the Agartala Press Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">The Union also accused MLA Ranjit Debbarma of illegally using Mr. Sarkar\u2019s photographs and posting provocative content on social media to incite division among journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">Calling the act \u201cdeliberate and divisive,\u201d the TJU urged Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to take immediate legal action against the MLA and ensure adequate security for Pranab Sarkar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cIf this deliberate provocation continues, the Tripura Journalists\u2019 Union will be forced to launch a statewide agitation,\u201d warned TJU Executive General Secretary Santosh Gope.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agartala,October 27, 2025: The Tripura Journalists\u2019 Union (TJU) has voiced strong protest against the police case filed by Tipra Motha MLA and surrendered militant leader Ranjit Debbarma against senior journalist Pranab Sarkar, who serves as the All India Secretary and Acting President of the Union\u2019s state committee.
