Agartala, Sept 26, 2025:<\/strong> Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today distributed appointment letters to newly recruited General Duty Medical Officers (GDMOs)<\/em> <\/strong>and Librarians<\/em> at a program held in Pragya Bhavan, Agartala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the government is committed to filling up vacancies across departments at the earliest. \u201cToday 240 appointment letters for GDMOs have been handed over. Out of them, 142 are male candidates and 72 are female. It is a proud moment to see young boys and girls, who once dreamt of becoming doctors, finally step into the noble profession,\u201d Dr. Saha remarked, while also extending his best wishes to the newly appointed Librarians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He underlined the vital role of librarians in schools, highlighting that libraries are not only about books but also about creating a learning environment. With the advent of digital and e-libraries, he said, librarians need to remain updated to guide students properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking about the responsibilities of doctors, the CM reminded them of the sacrifices the medical profession demands. Drawing from his own background as a surgeon, he said, \u201cA surgeon should have eagle\u2019s eyes and delicate fingers. Doctors must dedicate their time and energy to patients, even at the cost of personal sacrifices. The stethoscope is like wings for a doctor, a symbol of service to humanity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Saha stressed that transparency has been the hallmark of his government\u2019s recruitment process. He informed that so far, including die-in-harness cases, over 20,033 government jobs have been provided. Alongside job creation, he said, the state is promoting entrepreneurship and self-reliance through loans and skill development initiatives in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting progress in the health sector, the Chief Minister said that the bed capacity at GBP Hospital has been doubled from 700 to 1,413, with plans for further expansion. Postgraduate medical seats have increased to 65 and are expected to reach around 100 soon. Tripura has already successfully carried out kidney transplants, and efforts are underway to introduce liver and other organ transplant facilities at Agartala Government Medical College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also announced that the Mother and Child Hospital<\/em> with 200 beds in Agartala and another at Belonia will be operational by January 2025. Additionally, a modern de-addiction center is coming up at Bishramganj with central assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On health insurance, Dr. Saha said Tripura is the only state in the country where every resident is covered under the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana<\/strong> without capping, benefitting over 5.4 lakh families. He further noted that the state has been recognized nationally for significant achievements in reducing infant mortality and for success in the TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
