Agartala, Sept 16:<\/strong> The West Tripura District Administration has cancelled the license of \u2018Happiest Hour\u2019, a restaurant-cum-bar located on the rooftop of the UD Building in Agartala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an order issued on Tuesday, Dr. Vishal Kumar (IAS), Excise Collector of West Tripura, stated that the license holder, Mr. Gautam Debnath, had repeatedly violated the provisions of the Excise Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the administration, on September 6, 2025, liquor was being served and consumed at the bar even after 11 PM, violating license conditions. Unauthorized late-night DJ performances and dance events resembling nightclub culture were also organized. CCTV footage confirmed these violations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the licensee failed to submit the mandatory list of employees working at the bar and did not respond to the show-cause notice issued earlier. Authorities concluded that these lapses were deliberate violations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The order reads: \u201cUnder Section 40 (1)(g) of the Tripura Excise Act, 1987, License No. 97 issued in favor of Mr. Gautam Debnath is hereby cancelled with immediate effect.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The licensee has also been directed to immediately deposit the license document, liquor stock, records, and the CCTV NVR with the District Excise Office.
