Tripura, 18 August, 2025:<\/strong> Advocate informed that the incident dates back to\u00a018 May 2019<\/strong>, when a woman from\u00a0Boxanagar<\/strong>\u00a0lodged a written complaint at the Boxanagar Police Station. According to the complaint, on that night, in the absence of her husband, the accused\u00a0Nurun Nabi<\/strong>\u00a0forcibly entered her house and raped her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case was registered by then Officer-in-Charge Rajib Saha<\/strong>, and the investigation was handed over to Investigating Officer Durga Kumar Rangkhwl<\/strong>. During the investigation, statements of around 18 witnesses<\/strong> were recorded, and a charge sheet was filed under Sections 457, 376, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial was conducted over several years, during which the court examined 17 key witnesses<\/strong>. After completing the trial, the District and Sessions Judge of Sipahijala, Shankari Das<\/strong>, pronounced the verdict on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accused Nurun Nabi<\/strong> was convicted and sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment under IPC Section 457 with a fine of \u20b92,000<\/strong> (in default, 15 days of imprisonment) and life imprisonment under IPC Section 376 with a fine of \u20b95,000<\/strong> (in default, two months of imprisonment).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
