Male, July 25 (SHABD):<\/strong> Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Male on Friday, marking the beginning of his two-day State Visit to the Maldives. He was warmly received at Velana International Airport by Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu<\/a><\/strong>, in a gesture reflecting the long-standing and cordial ties between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hundreds of Indian diaspora members turned out to greet the Prime Minister, waving Indian flags and chanting slogans of support. Their enthusiastic welcome showcased the strong people-to-people bonds that have long connected India and the Maldives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is Prime Minister Modi\u2019s third visit to the Maldives<\/strong> and the first by any foreign Head of Government under President Muizzu\u2019s leadership. His visit comes at the invitation of the Maldivian President and signifies a continued commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 26, PM Modi will attend <\/a>the Maldives\u2019 60th Independence Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour. His presence at the milestone event highlights India\u2019s \u2018Neighbourhood First\u2019 policy and the regional maritime vision of cooperation under \u2018Vision MAHASAGAR.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the visit, both sides are expected to explore greater collaboration in areas such as defence, maritime security, trade, and sustainable development. The visit is also anticipated to reaffirm the strategic partnership and shared future of the two Indian Ocean neighbours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
