Tripura, 18 July 2025:<\/strong> Baralutma Higher Secondary School, under the PM SHRI scheme, has a student strength of around 800. Among them, 211 are currently enrolled in Class XI and 201 in Class XII. Despite this significant number, the school does not offer a science stream\u2014something that was promised two years ago but has yet to be implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frustrated by the delay, students launched a protest on Friday morning, blocking the Kamalpur\u2013Ambassa road at around 10:00 AM. Their only demand: immediate introduction of the science stream in their school. The blockade, which lasted for nearly two hours, brought traffic to a standstill on both sides of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon being informed, Salema Police Station OC Deepak Das, Salema BDO Abhijit Majumder, and SDPO Samudra Debbarma arrived at the scene and engaged in discussions with the protesting students. They also spoke with District Education Officer Madhusudan Debbarma over the phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the interaction, it was decided that a joint meeting would be held next Monday involving the BDO, the DEO, and the School Management Committee to discuss the issue in detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After assurances were given, the students withdrew the blockade around 11:45 AM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe understand the concern of the students and are committed to resolving the matter through proper dialogue,\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Said Salema BDO Abhijit Majumder. Senior citizen Surya Kumar Sinha also supported the students’ demand and urged authorities to act promptly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
