Agartala, July 15, 2025: <\/strong>As part of a nationwide initiative led by the Supreme Court of India and the National Legal Services Authority\u2019s (NALSA) Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), a special 90-day campaign titled\u00a0\u2018Mediation for the Nation\u2019<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0has commenced across the country, including Tripura. The campaign is being held from\u00a0July 1 to September 30, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing a press conference at the Tripura State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) Conference Hall, Member Secretary Jhuma Dutta Choudhury<\/strong> informed that the campaign aims to promote mediation as a preferred method for the resolution of civil disputes and reduce the burden on courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under this initiative, a wide range of disputes are being referred to mediation centres for out-of-court settlement. These include matrimonial disputes<\/strong>, motor accident compensation claims<\/strong>, domestic violence-related cases<\/strong>, cheque bounce matters<\/strong>, commercial disputes<\/strong>, employment issues<\/strong>, compoundable criminal cases<\/strong>, consumer grievances<\/strong>, loan recovery<\/strong>, property partition matters<\/strong>, eviction cases<\/strong>, and land acquisition disputes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMediation is a recognized method of dispute resolution that brings both parties to the same table, allowing them to settle matters amicably and at a much lower cost,\u201d said Choudhury. \u201cThe campaign aims to empower people to resolve conflicts through mutual agreement, facilitated by trained mediators.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tripura currently has nine mediation centres<\/strong> \u2013 one at the High Court of Tripura<\/strong> and one each in the eight district courts<\/strong>. As of July 9<\/strong>, a total of 996 cases<\/strong> have been referred to these centres across the state:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
