Udaipur, July 13, 2025<\/strong>: A historic day for Tripura as Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha laid the foundation stone for the\u00a0world-class Shaktipeeth Park<\/strong>\u00a0at Banaduar near the revered Matabari temple in Udaipur, Gomati district. A Bhumi Pujan (ritual of land sanctification) ceremony marked the beginning of the park\u2019s construction, which aims to become a global spiritual tourism hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the park will recreate all 51 sacred Shakti Peethas of India, which are considered highly revered sites in Hinduism where parts of Goddess Sati\u2019s body are believed to have fallen. One of them is the Tripurasundari Temple<\/strong>, also known as Matabari, already attracting pilgrims from across the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Shaktipeeth Park<\/strong>, being developed under the initiative of the state\u2019s Tourism Department, is set to cost around \u20b997 crore. CM Saha emphasized that this park, under the guidance and inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will place Tripura firmly on the global tourism map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stated, \u201cFrom January to July this year alone, foundation stones of several major development projects worth hundreds of crores have been laid. These span across sectors like education, healthcare, connectivity, drinking water, and rural development.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting women empowerment, CM Saha said over 56,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs)<\/strong> are actively working across the state, leading women toward self-reliance and contributing to employment generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On tourism, he mentioned that the government is focusing heavily on eco-tourism<\/strong> by improving facilities at Roa, Trishna, and Sepahijala wildlife sanctuaries. Infrastructure upgrades are ongoing at Tepania Eco Park, Narikel Kunja, and Chabimura to attract domestic and foreign tourists alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government also plans to build 51 log huts<\/strong> under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme<\/strong> to enhance accommodation facilities near spiritual and cultural heritage sites such as Kasba Kalibari, Chaturdash Devata Temple, Amarpur\u2019s Chandi Mandir, and Mahamuni Pagoda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy<\/strong>, speaking as a special guest, said the Shaktipeeth Park will add a new dimension to Tripura’s spiritual tourism and help boost the socio-economic standards of locals in the Banaduar area. The park, he said, will become a confluence of faith, culture, and spirituality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury<\/strong> reiterated that the park represents the spirit of Sanatan Dharma and will contribute to strengthening Tripura’s economy through the growth of the tourism sector. \u201cThis initiative will help place Tripura\u2019s tourism destinations on the world map,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other speakers included Bikash Debbarma<\/strong>, and Tourism Director Prashant Badal Negi<\/strong> delivered the welcome speech. The event was presided over by the Chairperson of Matabari Panchayat Samiti. Dignitaries present included Gomati District Magistrate Debal Debroy<\/strong>, MLAs Ram Jamatia<\/strong> and Jitendra Majumder<\/strong>, District Magistrate Rinku Lalthanliana<\/strong>, and Panchayat leader Bijoy Debbarma<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CM Saha further announced that the country\u2019s largest Nataraja statue<\/strong> will be installed at the Shaktipeeth Park. He emphasized the unprecedented progress in Tripura\u2019s connectivity infrastructure\u2014via air, rail, and road\u2014which has made travel much easier for tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He concluded with hope: \u201cThis park will not only become a symbol of religious and spiritual unity but also contribute significantly to the growth of Tripura\u2019s handicraft, agriculture, and cultural sectors.
