{"id":12118,"date":"2025-07-02T18:13:38","date_gmt":"2025-07-02T18:13:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/?p=12118"},"modified":"2025-07-02T18:14:07","modified_gmt":"2025-07-02T18:14:07","slug":"cm-manik-saha-flags-off-road-safety-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/index.php\/2025\/07\/02\/cm-manik-saha-flags-off-road-safety-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"CM Manik Saha Flags Off Road Safety Campaign, Ambulance Distribution in Agartala"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Agartala, July 2:<\/strong> Road safety cannot be ensured by laws and enforcement alone \u2014 it requires awareness, education, and a collective sense of responsibility from citizens, said\u00a0<strong>Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha<\/strong>\u00a0at a state-level road safety event held today at Swami Vivekananda Maidan, Agartala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event, organized by the&nbsp;<strong>Transport Department<\/strong>, marked the launch of a series of initiatives under the&nbsp;<strong>Assistance to States for Capital Investment Scheme<\/strong>. These included the formal&nbsp;<strong>distribution of 16 life-support ambulances<\/strong>&nbsp;to the state\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Traffic Police and Fire &amp; Emergency Services<\/strong>, procured at a cost of \u20b96.36 crore. He emphasized that every road accident doesn\u2019t just claim a life but causes a loss to families, society, and the state as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMajor road accidents are not just individual tragedies \u2014 they are a loss to the nation,\u201d he said. \u201cMany families are devastated, and valuable human resources are lost.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Highlighting ongoing initiatives, the Chief Minister spoke about several road safety and accident-prevention programs being implemented in coordination with central and state governments. These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>RAAHI Scheme<\/strong>\u00a0for first responders,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u20b925,000 rewards<\/strong>\u00a0for Good Samaritans who assist accident victims,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hit and Run Compensation<\/strong>, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Vehicle Scrapping Policy<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Saha further stressed the need for&nbsp;<strong>road safety education<\/strong>, especially for students, and urged parents to raise awareness among children. He identified major causes of road accidents as&nbsp;<strong>overspeeding, reckless driving, driving under the influence, failure to wear helmets or seatbelts, and distracted driving<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Encouragingly, there has been a significant reduction in road accidents in Tripura compared to previous years,&#8221; he said, expressing hope that today\u2019s initiatives would benefit citizens immensely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the event,&nbsp;<strong>Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury<\/strong>&nbsp;said the Transport and Traffic Departments are actively working to promote road safety and raise awareness. He mentioned several steps, including&nbsp;<strong>distribution of in-car tracking systems, Good Samaritan awareness programs<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>installation of VLTD (Vehicle Location Tracking Device)<\/strong>&nbsp;in public vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAssisting road accident victims is not just a duty rewarded with prizes, but a&nbsp;<strong>moral and social responsibility<\/strong>,\u201d the minister added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier,&nbsp;<strong>Transport Secretary U. K. Chakma<\/strong>&nbsp;delivered the welcome address, while&nbsp;<strong>DGP Anurag<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Additional Transport Secretary Subrata Chowdhury<\/strong>&nbsp;also spoke on the occasion.
