The announcement was made today by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha at a grand ceremony organized by the State Literacy Mission Authority under the School Education Department at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">The milestone was achieved through the successful implementation of the Ullas \u2013 Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram, a nationwide literacy campaign initiated to educate citizens aged 15 and above who had previously been illiterate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister called the day \u201chistoric\u201d for the state and emphasized that the achievement is a result of a united societal effort. \u201cThis is a moment of immense pride for Tripura. Following the Union Territory of Ladakh, and the states of Mizoram and Goa, we are now the third state in India to attain the status of full literacy. Notably, in the last assessment held on March 23, 2025, 5,819 out of 5,896 participants cleared the test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\"><strong>Community-Led Literacy Movement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">Under the Ullas campaign, 943 Social Awareness Centres were established across all blocks and villages. The teaching efforts were supported by 2,228 volunteer educators, including students, college-goers, and retired teachers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">Dr. Saha also recalled the national launch of the Ullas-1 logo, slogan \u201cJan Jan Saakshar\u201d, and the campaign\u2019s mobile app by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 29, 2023, during the third anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p3\"><strong>Awards and Cultural Presentations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">The event also included cultural performances by neo-literates, a documentary on the literacy mission, and the unveiling of the \u201cUllas\u201d booklet. Awards were presented to the Best Learners and districts showing excellence in literacy. North Tripura was recognized as the best-performing district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">Among the dignitaries present were Ravel Hemendra Kumar, Special Secretary, School Education; Preeti Meena, Director (Adult Education), Ministry of Education; N.C.
