Agartala, June 22: <\/strong>The state government is committed to providing clean, healthy, and modern civic amenities to urban residents, stated Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha during the inauguration of beautification and renovation works of two major ponds under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) today. The projects inaugurated include the beautification of Bhattapukur near Nagerjala Bus Stand under Ward No. 33 and Mantri Pukur under Ward No. 40.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said Tripura is steadily moving on the path of development. Citizens are now able to witness visible changes in urban infrastructure across the state. \u201cOur aim is to build a clean and smart state, and we are working tirelessly towards that goal,\u201d he said, adding that citizens also have a responsibility to maintain public infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized that the current government is not focusing only on Agartala but has also initiated several development plans across all urban areas in the state. Since 2019, 23 ponds have already been renovated and beautified, and work on another 14 is being planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CM Saha noted that both Bhattapukur and Mantri Pukur were on the verge of disappearing but have now been revived through government initiatives that aim to preserve the state\u2019s cultural and ecological heritage. He also mentioned that a total of \u20b91,147.44 crore has been allocated for the development of the state\u2019s 20 urban local bodies for the financial year 2024\u201325.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting major urban projects in the pipeline, the Chief Minister said the state budget includes the construction of two new flyovers\u2014one in Agartala and another in Udaipur. Other upcoming initiatives include a multi-storied parking complex at the Agartala Motor Stand, the Agartala Ring Road, the Unity Mall, a G+14 office building at Gurkhabasti, the Mother and Child Care Hospital at GB, and improved drainage systems for Agartala city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflecting on the transformation of the Nagerjala Bus Stand, the CM said that people are now witnessing the dramatic improvements made compared to the previous neglected condition of the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further said that the current government knows how to complete projects on time and is progressing toward the vision of a \u201cViksit Tripura 2047\u201d in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s \u201cViksit Bharat 2047\u201d mission. \u201cTripura is not behind any other state in the country, and PM Modi himself has praised the development of Tripura in his speeches, which is a matter of pride for all of us,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CM reaffirmed that the government is deeply aware of the needs of the people and will not compromise on development. \u201cThis is a sensitive, responsible, and efficient government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumder, in his address, said that due to years of neglect, these two ponds had become unusable for the public. With support from the state government and proactive efforts of AMC, both ponds have now been restored for public use. The government is making continuous efforts to assess and address the needs of people across Agartala and the entire state, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AMC Commissioner D.K. Chakma delivered the welcome address. Ward No. 33 Corporator Abhijit Mallik and Ward No. 40 Corporator Sampa Sarkar Chowdhury also spoke at the event. Among others present were Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta and Tripura Road Transport Corporation Board of Directors member Shyamal Kumar Deb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
