Agartala, May 22: <\/strong>Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha yesterday asserted that the Tripura government has ensured transparency in the recruitment process for government jobs. He emphasized that all newly appointed candidates have secured their jobs purely through merit and hard work, without any influence from powerful individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Minister was speaking at an appointment letter distribution ceremony held at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala for candidates selected as Food Inspectors through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC).<\/a><\/strong> He also inaugurated a mega blood donation camp organized on the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the event, CM Dr. Saha, along with Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and other dignitaries, handed over appointment letters to 15 selected candidates for the post of Food Inspector. The mega blood donation camp was jointly organized by the Departments of Food, Transport, and Tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting the government\u2019s commitment to employment generation, the Chief Minister stated that since taking office, the current government has provided jobs to a total of 19,262 individuals in various departments, including appointments under the die-in-harness scheme. He added that initiatives are underway to fill vacant posts and create new positions to ensure more employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the last one year alone, 37 LDCs and 19 MTS personnel have joined the Food Department through JRBT. Additionally, recruitment is in progress for 12 Sub-Inspectors, 3 Fumigation Assistants, 6 Storekeepers, and 35 Store Guards in the department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CM Dr. Saha praised the efforts of Food Department employees at all levels in ensuring the smooth functioning of the public distribution system (PDS). He said that nearly 6.06 lakh Priority Household and Antyodaya Anna Yojana families are regularly receiving free rice, while 3.83 lakh APL families are being supplied rice at subsidized rates. Furthermore, around 9.81 lakh ration card holders are provided with subsidized atta and essential commodities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting the support for farmers, the Chief Minister said that since 2018, the state government has procured 2.25 lakh metric tons of paddy at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), disbursing nearly \u20b9446 crore directly to farmers\u2019 bank accounts. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, 3,64,847 LPG connections have been provided across the state since 2018. He also mentioned the introduction of modern e-PoS machines at ration shops to make the PDS more transparent, robust, and efficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the topic of blood donation, CM Dr. Saha said, \u201cThere is no substitute for blood. Blood has no religion. Through blood donation, we show that we are united as one.\u201d He recalled how the people of the state had voluntarily come forward to donate blood during the COVID-19 pandemic when shortages emerged. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between the demand and supply of blood and praised the State Blood Transfusion Council for its role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury echoed similar sentiments, stating that blood donation is a noble act and a social responsibility. He said, \u201cDespite scientific advancements, no alternative to blood has been discovered yet.\u201d The Minister also pointed out that the combined effort of the three departments in organizing this camp reflects a sense of social accountability that should inspire other departments as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was also attended by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, Transport Secretary C.K. Jamatia (who delivered the welcome address), Tourism Secretary U.K. Chakma, Food Department Special Secretary Debapriya Bardhan, Tourism Director Prashanta Badal Negi, Food Director Sumit Lodh, and Additional Transport Secretary Subrata Chowdhury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
